- Why buy a QuickPrompt?
The QuickPrompt is the most affordable teleprompter on the
Internet. With the proper software, it does everything that a much
more expensive teleprompter can do, plus it's portable and can be
placed right on top of laptop computers. Getting it setup takes no
more than a few seconds, so you never have to worry about
discovering last minute problems before your important speech. It's
a lot easier to learn how to use than a more expensive teleprompter,
which typically requires an expert on site to operate it.
- Will it work in PowerPoint?
It works flawlessly with PowerPoint. However, you need to keep
in mind that your slides need to be flipped so that they are the
mirror image of the originals. This can be done manually with a
graphic editing program (e.g. Photoshop), or automatically with a
special video converter like the
Hall Research SC-VGA-2
- What is a teleprompter and how is
it used?
A teleprompter (also known as
an autocue) is a display device that prompts the person speaking
with an electronic visual text of a speech or script. Using a
teleprompter is similar to the practice of using cue cards. The
screen is in front of the lens of the camera, and the words on the
screen are reflected to the eyes of the speaker using a one-way
mirror.
As the speaker does not need to look down to consult written notes,
he or she appears to have memorized the speech or be speaking
spontaneously, and will look directly into the camera lens. Cue
cards, on the other hand, will always be placed away from the lens
axis, making the speaker look at a point beside the camera, which
leaves a "distracted" impression.
- Which is better, the glass or
acrylic mirrors?
The glass is superior optically, with an antireflective coating
on the backside to eliminate a double image from the scrolling text.
The acrylic is less expensive, as well as more portable because it's
lighter and shatterproof, but generally we recommend the glass.
- What if my laptop does not open
all the way, will that still work?
That's usually not a problem, you can always stack some books on
either side of the keyboard to
make a platform for your camera.
- How does the quality of your
mirrors compare to professional teleprompters?
If you are using our glass mirrors, they are the exact same
quality. We are primarily a mirror
company, selling high quality mirror coatings to teleprompter
manufacturers.
- What should I use to clean the
surface of the mirror?
Glass can be cleaned with lens cleaner (50% alcohol solution),
and acrylic can be cleaned with Novus 1 cleaner and polish mates.
- What if I need to remove or
modify the hood?
The hood is very easy to remove and replace, if necessary.
